OOM: Pink Pizza

 Ragnar is waiting in front of the door to their rooms -- one of them, rather, the one that they had not left an exhaustedly sleeping Sinric in -- with the tray, piled high with drinks and glasses and tomato salad and pizza and plates and tea mugs and what have you, waiting for Athelstan to arrive with the kettle (not currently glowing blue) and the key.

He'll suggest setting out the food first and then going to wake Sinric. Unless he's awake already.

Athelstan arrives soon enough, brandishing the kettle's power plug.

"This must be how it works."

"What is that?" Ragnar asks. "I've seen those snake-ends on machines before."

He peers at it.

[athelstanthescribe]

"It has three points - and three holes in that space in the wall, there, I wondered about that."

[bigarmy_strangepants]

"So it fits in there the way" -- beat -- "I fit into you, and then -- what? I doubt it's as much fun for these things. But I think we have them in our rooms; as soon as we're inside, we can find out!"

Athelstan digs in his pocket for the key.

"Yes, and then we can have our feast."

"Before the pizza goes cold and the drinks get warm," Ragnar says, nodding.

[athelstanthescribe]

"Exactly." A grin over his shoulder, and he steps into the room. "Other things can come later."

Ragnar steps inside and outs the tray down on the table. "Before everything, though, I get a kiss!"

They had said so.

"Yes, I suppose I did promise", he says, mock-grudging. "Just one, mind, or we'll never eat at all."

"Come here, you," Ragnar says, grinning.

Athelstan steps into Ragnar's arms, tipping his face up towards him.

Ragnar pulls him close, arms around Athelstan's ribs, and covers his lips with his own for one long, loving kiss, then lets go, because they said so, too.

Athelstan smiles up at him, taking only a half-step away.

"I knew you could be restrained sometimes", he teases.

"Preferably by you sitting on me," Ragnar gins, "and even then, not for very long."

He smiles down at Athelstan.

"Would you like another kiss, or are you busy with the thing that blows glue."

Erm.

"Glows blue."

That gets a raised eyebrow.

"More later. We don't want to be distracted after all our work - Sinric? Are you awake?"

Ragnar sets the things from the tray out on the table while Athelstan is getting Sinric.

Sinric is curled in the blankets, his hair spread out like a halo. He blinks as Athelstan calls to him, brushing tears away with his sleeve.

He nods and pulls himself together, a heavy robe wrapped around his small body.

"Ragnar and I have made lunch", he says cheerfully. "Come and see."

"Something Rae Seddon taught us to make," Ragnar adds, as that certainly is a seal of quality for any food.

He nods and slides out of bed with a slight whimper of pain. He tucks the robe tighter, hiding his form and follows Athelstan. "It smells most appetizing. You made pita?"

"It's called pizza, as we were told. Flatbread, with cheese and any food you like laid out on it."

"And vegetables from the future known as tomatoes," Ragnar adds. "And yes, Rae said it's called pizza. But that's not so far from what you called it."

"It looks wonderful." He smiles thinly, trying to sound brighter than he feels. "You must have gone to great pains to make it."

His stomach is still in knots but it has been some time since he ate and the smell does make his mouth water.

"We hoped to tempt you with it", Athelstan says, watching him with a mixture of hope and worry. "You must keep your strength up."

"Or get it back up," Ragnar says. "So we put on things that help make more blood."
